Footnote Pages on the Loose

September 15th, 2008 | Written by Peter

It’s great to see people using the beta version of Footnote Pages that launched last week. Here are some Footnote Pages people have been working on:

The feedback we’ve received so far has been very helpful. We’re working on a few problems you’ve pointed out and hope you’ll continue to send us your comments and suggestions.

The focus of the launch has been on the 80+ million Person Pages we started with information found in the Social Security Death Index, but if you’re interested in someone who’s not in the Social Security Death Index, you can create a page for them.  Footnote pages are also a great way to tell the story of an event, a place, an organization or pretty much anything else.

Clio, our history maven, has been busily making pages for some of the events in the Timeline. Here are a couple of examples:

We hope everyone will continue to use these Pages and send us your feedback so we can continue to improve them.  If you find or create something special on a Footnote Page, please add a link to it in a comment to this post.

We’re thrilled to have been selected to participate in this year’s TechCrunch50 conference. Sometime after 2:15 Pacific Time our CEO, Russ Wilding, will be presenting a new feature that will help you gather memories of someone or something important with a timeline-based archive, photos and links to historical databases.
